We are proud to introduce FontExplorer X Pro 6.0.3, the latest version of the all-in-one font management solution

  • Important: If upgrading to FontExplorer X Pro 6 from a previous version you may need to purchase a license upgrade.
  • If working in a FontExplorer X Server environment, this client version requires FontExplorer X Server version 2.5.1 or later. However, we recommend you update your Server to the new version 3 in order to get the most out of all the great new server features. Older FontExplorer X Server versions are not supported.
  • This version of FontExplorer X Pro requires OS X 10.9 or later

Changes in Version 6.0.3

New

  • Supports macOS High Sierra (10.13)
  • Plug-in for QuarkXPress 2017 integrated into FontExplorer X Pro

Resolved

  • In new and existing Smart Sets it was not possible to enter/edit text in the text field of the first filter
  • When exported font information was imported to an Excel file, the font classifications appeared under the column titled "Usages"
  • When viewing the font list in Font Tile view, the list automatically scrolled in steps, continuously to the end
  • The "Print template" menu item was permanently disabled in the "Print" dialog popup under "Page Layout"
  • Some text overlaps occurred in an exported PDF print catalog when the language was set to Japanese
  • Various minor unrelated bug fixes and user interface improvements

FontExplorer X Server Users and AdministratorsRequires FontExplorer X Server version 3.0.3

New

  • Added selection buttons and search option to the Groups panel of the Server Set/Folder "Properties" dialog
  • Added a hidden preference key to prevent users from activating more than a given number of fonts with one click. In the Terminal application, enter the following command on the client machine, followed by "Enter". Be sure to quit out of the FontExplorer X Pro application before executing
      defaults write com.linotype.FontExplorerX disallowActivatingMoreThanXFontsPerClick 100

100 can be any number and overrides the setting in the "Monitoring" panel of the FontExplorer X Pro client preferences. The user will receive an error message if they attempt to activate more then the allowed number of fonts
  • Font license view now supports filtering with multiple criteria through use of the new "LIST" command. This is useful for reclaiming fonts from multiple machines all at once or for listing all fonts that contain Bold and/or Italic. LIST works for machines, users, fonts and deleted users, the command must be entered in uppercase (LIST) with parameters separated by the vertical bar |. Here is an example command to call up all fonts assigned to multiple machines: LIST|machineA|machineX|machineY

Resolved

  • A small number of fonts, such as "Corben", caused the FontExplorer X Server to crash when generating previews of non-downloaded server fonts
  • When creating server backups of very large server font libraries, FontExplorer X Pro showed the server in a "disconnected" state
  • When logging into the FontExplorer X Server, users occasionally saw a message informing them that "One or more fonts have been deleted from the server and cannot be downloaded". This could occur when a server font was deleted and then uploaded again
  • When creating server backups of very large server font libraries, FontExplorer X Pro showed the server in a "disconnected" state
  • The message "Please wait, x of xx fonts activated" appeared and remained on the screen when opening a document requiring automatic plugin font activation. This occurred when a user had permission to "Browse all server fonts" but did not have access to all the server fonts required in the document. Now these fonts will be listed as missing, clicking "Done" or "Cancel" will close the missing fonts dialog and proceed with opening the text document
