Changes in version 1.5
New Features
- The interface of the System Preference Pane has been optimized.
- Now it is possible to create Master/Slave configurations to balance the server load on several machines. Those servers can replicate by schedule. Please find more information about this in the Administrator Manual.
- The connection to an LDAP server has been improved by adding a direct authentication against the LDAP server. All users known to the LDAP can now login to the FontExplorer X Server with their standard domain password.
- The administrator now can hide the Local Library and local sets for FontExplorer X Pro client users.
- The administrator now can disable the font import into the Local Library for FontExplorer X Pro client users.
- Administrators now can make a set of fonts mandatory for download and/or activation for every user by activating this option in the server set property dialog.
- The integrated Backup function now has a scheduler.
- The target directory for the integrated Backup now can be set by the administrator.
Resolved
- Server fonts would become disabled and could not be reenabled after fast user switching or use of "refresh fonts" function.
Improvements
- Improved handling in Account Management to permit deleting users or groups via the backspace or delete key.
Known Issues
- Mac OS X 10.6 – Activating and deactivating fonts is somewhat slower than under Mac OS X 10.5. This can have an influence on logout time when many fonts are activated. An upcoming release of Mac OS X may resolve this.
- Font Classification cannot be applied to server fonts.
- Server fonts activated via plugin request will not be automatically deactivated when the requesting application quits even though the option is selected in the plug-in manager.
Other Changes
- This release contains an updated "Software License Agreement". The limitation to use only one instance of the server has been removed, as this no longer coincides with the new "Master/Slave" feature.
